I have a habit of wanting to check my e-mail every 20 minutes or so when I'm online, that's why I'm curious about the new browser capabilities. Not really a big deal, I'm sure it works just fine for that purpose.
Hmm, Kindle might still be able to convert the files itself through your Kindle e-mail address. (My resource: link 1 (latest gen) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200505520&#recognize) | link 2 (gen 1) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200140600&#converting))
And Calibre would be able to help here too. You don't even have to zip the files if your adding one by one, it'll zip it itself (the second add option). And just use WinRAR to batch convert if you want to create a bunch of zips in one go for adding.
Here's a small example of one of the fics converted with Calibre: direct download (http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/9/20/2974183//Example_-_Mind_of_Its_Own.pdf) Let me know how it goes.
