Lately, I've been in a cinema bizarre craze, snapping up some things on e-bay. Well, I noticed that one of the magazine centerfolds had a photocopy signature on it. (Which excites me to no end. When will I ever get the chance in person to get them to sign anything?)
Well, it had me curious and I looked around to see if anyone might be crazy enough to sell their prized, hand-signed photos when I stumbled on RockerStyleClothing.
At first I was mildly excited, and faintly gob smacked that someone would seriously sell something so precious, priceless even. But apparently it wasn't priceless as the attached price tag read 30 bucks. Not bad at all for what could possibly be one of your prized possessions.
However, hope turned to suspicion, dislike, and then pure unadulterated loathing.
Not only did this person somehow manage to wrangle SEVERAL different pictures with signatures (some in quantities) but they had also managed to find the time to get other notorious signatures as well. Dozens of signatures up for sale.
Well, upon inspection the pictures all have the same exact placing right down tot he curve of each letter. Naturally, I assumed that it was simply a photocopy signature. Someone had likely photo-shopped the signatures on the pictures.
This could be forgiven if they hadn't gone so far as to guarantee it was hand-signed down to the date.
I turned away in mild disgust and ventured on, but this was not the last I would see of this culprit, I fear.
Searching through some CB things on Ebay, what do I find but RockerStyleClothing trying to auction off these photocopies... only what I learned was they weren't photocopies.
There were forgeries.
Now this, this is just downright FOUL and simply unforgivable.
They claimed that the photos are all stock photos. This alone should be a warning bell. Any respectable seller would have the actual photo of the actual item.
Curiosity bit at my ankles and upon checking the feedback I learned that several people had bought into this. They were tracing over the photocopies and selling them off.
The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, the pen.
Please don't buy into this crock, you'll be left with a heavy heart and 30 dollars poorer.
