Fests are fun and its neat to create something for someone else... however....
I have issues with prompts.
The deadlines tend to get away from me, but that's not the biggest problem. Noooo, no. The biggest problem is that I'm a Slytherin and a writer.
I see a post, I get an idea, so I start on it... and then it's just done completely my way. It's like the specific details of a post get away from me. I really do read them and try to take note, but in the end I let the story develop how I think it should unhindered.
It sucks because then I start getting in a pickle where I've done the prompt WRONG. -Head desks- Or have risked potential unhappy prompter.
Yeeeeah.
Fests are a bad idea, period. For me. The other problem is.... I still can't stop joining them.
My very first fest I was happy with. Wanted it to be longer and nearly missed the deadline... but happy with.
My last one... oh you guys, I HATE it. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE IT!
I don't even think I'm going to repost it into my own writing journal, I hate it so bad.
Maybe one day I'll rework it and it will be something I can be proud of, but not the way it is now, and it was already overdue so I just had to let it go.
-Cringes- I wonder if I can bribe them to keep me anonymous.
The next fest I have coming up is hd_parallel which I'm hating now too. They let THREE people claim the SAME prompt. And the prompt I have it's.... hard to differ. So there will be three stories of the same nature.
I had a really awesome idea that would have put it on a WHOLE other plane, but I think it would have been in violation of the rules and I wouldn't have had time to finish it. So that's going to be one all it's own.
