Harry looked out of the window, smiling slightly at the frosty scene that played out in front of him. The trees surrounding their home were plenty, each sticking out sharply in contrast to the memory of their green splendor from Summer.
It had almost been a sad sight, to see the trees so bare, but this morning each was coated in a thin layer of snow that soothed their harsh edges and made them beautiful once more. Especially so when the sun peeked through the branches to catch the sparkle of the clean snow.
He turned to look back at the bed where Draco lay sprawled against the sheets, still sleeping soundly all snuggled away from the chill of the morning. His mouth was open, poised to call his lover from sleep but as the sun rose higher over the trees and bathed Draco in the soft winter light he found his voice at a loss.
Draco had been like the trees once, before the layer of snow had soothed his edges, taking with it the image of a Death Eater. Now what was left was the man he couldn’t believe he’d missed, the man he couldn’t live his life without.
Perhaps he was now more like the snow. Beautiful and cold with all the capabilities of becoming dangerous but just like the snow outside now, he chose to make the world a more beautiful place to live in.
