I dreamt about zombies last night. (Random, but I just wanted to throw that out there.)

:D Anyway...

This is the day for questions, it seems.

Mmkay, so I was asking about an e-reader earlier, but it brought up this question because I'd be using said reader for fanfics.

Soooo, do you use a program to download your fics or do you do it tediously by hand? (I think I would rather .pdf format since I know for certain that's an available format for one of the e-readers. Not sure if it's for all of them.)

If so, what do you use and is it any good, or do you use it because it's the only thing you could find?

If not, what do you do? I'm not keen on the idea of going chapter by chapter and copying and pasting a fic into a word document. @-@ I am the lazy sort.

Now the really unsavory question that's practically taboo.

Does anyone have any Drarry pdfs that they are willing to share? Any and all. A collection is a collection is a collection. Summaries would be nice if they're not attached to the story.

Here are the ones I have at the moment:

-The Copper Cauldron by Newshound (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] reikokatsura )
-The Complete Works of Maya
-Phoenix Song by Xylodemon
-The Black Veela by Aandune (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hidders )

I haven't downloaded them, but I think Cheryl, Faith and Femme all have a number of their fics pdf-ed.

I have Heathen_Archive's comic collection, a couple by Pir8fancier (The Lettered/Lush Life trilogy and Bite Me, Hate Memes), and Reparations and Foundations by [livejournal.com profile] saras_girl, if you want to send me your email address. :o)

ETA: Also, I have never heard of The Copper Cauldron or Phoenix Song. Would you mind sending them to me? poetryandprozac at gmail.com

I'll have to hit up Cheryl face then. XD

Oooh I love Reparations by Saras_Girl but I never got around reading the sequel so that'd be nice to have. Yes. Yes.

Mine is atwilightkiss@gmail.com

I can certainly send them to you, but I'm at work at the moment so it'll be a few hours. (Just so you don't worry and think I forgot about you.)

My memory of Phoenix Song is sort of bare, but it's pretty much what it says. The Phoenix Song is kind of like a Mating Call only that it happens around your soul mate. Sooomething like that.

The Copper Cauldron I'm reading right now and haven't finish cause I'm procrastinate-failing. It's an mpreg fic that's centered around a three year old, mostly. Learning about him and then trying to be there for him and such. It's been really great so far.

Foundations is SO GOOD!

I'll fire them over. No hurry on the other two. I should be writing, not reading. It's bad enough I keep reading stuff that crops up on my f-list. *smacks own hand*

I think the reason I didn't read Foundations was because all through Reparations I was thinking, "Oh hey, they could so turn Malfoy Manor into a center!"

And then she did that. XD

It should be a plus, but I guess my mind just drifted away at that point.

Oooh, I should be writing too. But. Yeah. That hasn't happened.

There is a WHOLE lot more than that going on. You should definitely read it. I've just emailed it to you.

I'm going to go out and do some gardening for half an hour or so. Maybe that will shake something loose.

You should check out hidders' Tools for Save Whores.

I myself use this fanfiction downloader to convert files to RTF. It also has a pdf version, but that never seems to work well for me. I also use the one over at ficsavers.com, but I'm not OMGosh fond of it it because it only converts to HTML. On the upside, with that one you can download like 10 multi-chaptered fics on fanfiction.net, so...

For everything else I save manually. For instance, I saved the entire Copper Cauldron story to RTF before I found the PDF (like a freaking day later >.<").

I do have a collection of PDFs that I would happily send you! If you're up to RTF (I don't know about the other digital books, but the sony one reads RTF files), I have even more of those. And most of my fics have summaries in them, so.

I've looked at ficsavers.com, or something close to that and maybe I'm just blind or slow, but I couldn't even figure out how to find the downloadythingydooger.

Yes. That's what I said.

OOH SUMMARIES! <3 Summaries were one of my biggest concerns cause with fanfiction it doesn't give a damn what it's called, you still don't know anything about it. Lol.

Yes please! I would like to be rolling in all the lovely fics.

I'm looking at getting the Kindle, as it turns out, and if RTF isn't compliant then I can probably find a converter that will doing RTF to PDF. (Rtf might be better though, cause apparently some PDFs you have to shift the screen back and forth because they aren't formatted for the 6" screen and that would get very tiresome.)

Thanks for the link to Hidders saving guide thingy. I may have to proposition her (doesn't that sound dirty) because I know she probably has a Wonderland of Slashy goodness.

I can't send them now because I have to go to school, but I will as soon as I get home. BTW, do you have the PDF of Phoenix Song? I only have the HTML and don't have time to save it ATM!

I forgot to credit you. You're the one that gave me Phoenix Song, so I only have the HTML version. Sorry. @-@

Use Online-Convert (http://www.online-convert.com/) or get Calibre (http://www.calibre-ebook.com). You can use them to convert your RTF/HTML files into PDF. With Calbre you can just drop a FicSavers ZIP into it and convert that into a working PDF. It doesn't turn out fantastic but it works.

Have you tried the new version of Fanfiction Downloader? If you have already have Calibre it takes out the step of manual converting. It only works for 3 archives right now but Raimond says he's going to try to get his site listing back. When he does it'll be a pretty solid program. He seems pretty eager to create a better product with the help of users via his forum.

But I must admit, I don't think I'll EVER go back from the program I'm using now. CarlT has converted me throughly. Him adding TheHexFiles to his site listings was the wax that pretty much sealed the deal. But it's only for HTML, so you might not like it. And he's very quick to add/fix features, I love that. I currently have it babysitting over 200 WIPs while I download dozens of fics at a time when I feel like it. The time I send downloading/saving fics has been cut down so drastically.

Yay! Glad I could help. Major Geeks is a super-handy source for programmes that will definitely work. (And not add other screwy things, or mal-ware or anything.)

Enjoy!
